Gas Manifold for Oxygen Supply
in Industrial Applications

ERECTION AND COMMISSIONING

PNEUMSYS ADVANCE ENERGY SOLUTIONS (PAES) gas manifolds allow uninterrupted gas service to your application.

As per the design attribute, Gas manifolds are designed to let you connect and change out multiple cylinders of industrial gases in a safe and cost-effective manner. In addition, the regulator handling is eliminated.

Under unfavorable conditions, injury to personnel or damage to equipment may result.

Gas manifolds for oxygen supply and pipelines

The pressure in a gas container, cylinder or bundle is controlled by a gas manifold. Typically, a manifold consists of a supply unit and a backup unit.

At a basic level, the entire gas manifold system consists of:
  • A central source
  • A vapouriser
  • Pipelines
  • Pressure regulators (decreasing pressure along with the system)
  • Manual and service shut-off valves (to isolate whole sections of the system)
  • Pressure release valves upstream of any regulators and shut-off valves, to prevent the whole thing from exploding.
  • Pressure monitors and alarms to detect the fact that you're out of oxygen.

Benefits of a gas manifold:
  • streamlines the handling of gas cylinders
  • reduces transport costs
  • reduces cylinder lease costs
  • reduces the need for space
  • makes gas cylinders easier to handle in the event of an emergency, such as a fire.

Gas manifolds are either manual or fully/semi-automated, with an alarm function to give a warning when gas is running out also available.

Gas pipes are usually constructed from materials selected on the basis of the application and features of the gas in question.

Pipe system classifications are based on the following factors:
  • hazardousness of the chemical
  • form of the chemical (gas/liquid)
  • nominal pipe size (DN)
  • maximum working pressure (PS)

From gas pipe networks, the gas is accessed at the end-use location via an outlet connection where the gas pressure and flow rate are controlled. The outlet units consist of a shutoff valve, pressure regulator, a possible flow meter and a hose connector.

Instruction for Emergency Oxygen Inlet Stations

General Requirements:
  • Emergency oxygen inlet stations shall comply with the connected industry standards.
  • The Emergency Gaseous Oxygen Inlet shall be housed in a weather tight recessed or surface mount enclosure.
  • The interior of the enclosure shall be clearly labeled with instructions for connection and operation of the emergency oxygen inlet.
  • The enclosure door shall be labeled “Emergency Low-Pressure Gaseous Oxygen Inlet” and shall be equipped with a staple for padlocking to allow entry only by authorized personnel.
Recessed Emergency Oxygen Inlet Stations (Low Pressure)
  • The inlet connection shall be a 1” female NPT connection and be provided with a plug to prevent the entry of foreign matter into the oxygen system when not in use.
  • A 1” brass ball valve shall control access to the emergency supply, and the gauge indicates the pressure being introduced into the Oxygen pipeline.
  • The enclosure door shall be labeled “Emergency Low-Pressure Gaseous Oxygen Inlet” and shall be equipped with a staple for padlocking to allow entry only by authorized personnel.
  • A mounting frame shall extend completely around the enclosure to trim recessed mounting on an exterior wall.
  • The box may be mounted horizontally or vertically by changing the front label.
  • The check valves shall be a 3-Piece design, with a removable body for servicing without cutting or disassembling of lines. Valves shall be provided with type-K copper extensions for connections on the pipeline
Recessed Emergency Oxygen Inlet Station (High Pressure)
  • The inlet connection shall only accept a CGA 540 connection and be provided with a nut to prevent the entry of foreign matter into the Oxygen system when not in use.
  • A 1” brass ball valve and a high-pressure regulator controls access to the emergency supply and indicates the supply pressure and the pressure being introduced into the Oxygen pipeline.
  • The enclosure door shall be labeled “Emergency High Pressure Gaseous Oxygen Inlet” and shall be equipped with a staple for padlocking to allow entry only by authorized personnel.
  • A mounting frame shall extend completely around the enclosure to trim recessed mounting on an exterior wall.
  • The unit shall have dual digital gauges for the display of supply and delivery pressures.
