As most textile units across the country will be restarting their plants after the lockdown is lifted.
PNEUMSYS is proud to present a note which has been jointly produced in guidance from Mr. Sharad Tandon of M/s. STandon Consulting which offers coupling of technical expertise and knowhow with innovative applications for the textile industry.
STandon Consulting not only advises but also executes projects and expansions for textile units. The profile can be viewed at
HOW TO RESTART YOUR HUMDIFICATION PLANT SAFELY FOR LOOM SHED
- 1) Before starting all the rotating equipment like fan, motors should be rotated manually to re-move jam if any.
- 2) Clean dust / fluffs from equipment’s including electrical panel and cover the machinery.
- 3) Switch off AUTO Mode.
- 4) REMOVE filter medium from Rotary Air Filter and run ONLY Return Air Fans for half an hour to remove dust from department and Under Ground Trenches. During this period, close Return Air Damper and open Exhaust Air Damper.
- 5) Do NOT start supply Air Fans yet
- 6) Do NOT start the pump yet
- 7) If you have loom ducts just over the machine, cover the warp sheet with cloth / plastic, remove the duct filter padding.
- 8) After running half an hour of Return Air Fan, PUT BACK filter medium on Rotary Air Filter and run both supply Air Fan and Return Air Fan for 15 mins to clean GI Supply Air Duct. ONLY fans, NO PUMP.
- 9) Air Compressor: To restart a compressor that has no oil or no oil pressure is a very important program.
Be careful if you see or feel that the overcurrent device is being tripped.
The ventilation inside the room is important, as is the condition and service of the heat exchangers for water coolers. And in the end, you might want to call your local distributor if you're in doubt or if you have exhausted all of the above.
- 10) Compressed air Piping System: When opening the Butterfly valve / Ball valve in the header line, ensure outlet valves are properly vented before connections to the air filters before the machines. If you're using GI/ Old Steel pipe or something like that then there is going to be a problem with the super-fine filters attached to their air dryer and very high-quality air going out into the system.
The air is going to be picking up all the particles from the inside of the piping and sending it off. So all that money you spent on filtering and an air dryer is wasted if you don't have a proper-quality pipe.
If you don't have a Soft Start valve mounted on the inlet of the compressed air system which regulate the gradual surge of the air pressure, it is recommended to gradually open the control valve in steps of 1.5-2 Bar in intervals of 2-3 minutes each to ensure there is no sudden surge of pressure in the piping system.
The consequences of a sudden 100% opening of a control valve can result in disastrous consequences and accidents. They have been cases where the worn-out filter bowls have burst due to sudden impact on the internal surface. also, PU tubing which become hard or flaky will tend to burst or pull out of the push in fittings at a very high velocity and cause whip flash which could damage the equipment’s or people standing close by.
- 11) PNEUMATICS: Pneumatic Cylinders and Solenoid valves / Filters are notorious for storing compressed air energy when the plant is shutdown if the systems are not vented out properly. After successful pressurization of a compressed air system, when starting a machine, it is imperative to ensure all this pneumatic cylinder have reached their original position and are not having any residual air pressure inside to create any kind of pressure or disturbance in the pneumatic circuit.
